Pennant changes on the way
The Board of Bowls Queensland wish to advise Districts and Clubs of a change to the Bowls Queensland By
Laws in relation to Clauses 12.4 & 12.5 Pennant and Open Pennant.
The following Clauses replace the existing Clauses 12.4 and 12.5.
The overriding intent is to provide for a uniform Pennant Competition across Queensland based on standard Conditions of Play. This will also provide for Districts to decide to play Open Pennants from Division 2 and below.
12.4 Pennant and Open Pennant.
12.4.1 Pennant competition in any District having a Division one (1) side shall remain as a separate gender competition.
12.4.2 Division 2 and below may be separate gender competitions or be played within a District as Open Pennants (a side comprising female and male players).
Note: All players must be registered with BQ as members of an affiliated Combined Club or Men’s or Ladies Club within the District, or have a current registered pennant permit.
12.5 Every District Bowls Association shall adhere to the Bowls Queensland Conditions of Play for Pennant Competition and the Laws of the Sport of Bowls in Australia.
If any Districts in Queensland are not an amalgamated District, and do not offer an open pennant competition from Division 2 down, Bowls Queensland encourage the Men’s and Ladies Districts to get together to discuss introducing this in their District.
